BOSS Technologies
Post-consumer packaging and rigid plastics are the most difficult waste to separate and recycle. Much of this waste is landfilled or incinerated as traditional optical sorting technology presents high CAPEX cost and large waste losses.
BOSS technology (Baffled Oscillation Separation System) is a breakthrough plastic recycling technology which separates post-consumer mixed rigid plastic waste to recover two consistent streams of post-consumer resin (PCR); polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), each with up to a 98% purity.
About LIFE BOSS
Funded by the Life Programme of the European Union
LIFE BOSS targets the demonstration and upscaling of the BOSS technology to radically innovate and boost plastic recycling and reuse in the EU.
LIFE BOSS will deliver two operative facilities targeting 100% post-consumer plastic waste feedstocks and will produce products ready for remanufacturing with up to 98% purity.
LIFE BOSS Objectives
BOSS-2D: Laminate & Multilayer Plastic Film
Develop a large-scale demonstration BOSS-2D plant for post-consumer flexible plastic waste with 25kt/y capacity.
BOSS-3D: Mixed Rigid Plastic
Develop a large-scale demonstration BOSS-3D plant for post-consumer mixed rigid waste as a scalable, automated recycling line.
